Spring Break and all my friends are either going to Hawaii or Mexico or Disneyland! “Why don’t we get to go somewhere cool?” Barb’s son grumbled as he prepared for his last day of school before spring break.
Barb had to admit she agreed with her son, Chad. Maybe we could do a little staycation thought Barb – less time, less money, and still a break away from the routine, electronics, chores, and work!
Spring Break at Hatcher Pass B&B/Cabins
Let’s call Liz at Hatcher Pass Bed and Breakfast/Cabins and check out the conditions for this weekend.
Good news – Hatcher Pass is going to be your answer this weekend – plenty of snow and beautiful days to go with it – you can even ski or sled under the lights until 9 p.m. at Government Peak Recreation Area.
Ski up at the Mine during the day – you’ll love the loops at the old mine buildings where you can take a break at a picnic table and have lunch, or stop to read the interpretive signs that tell of the old gold mining days. When you are ready to head back down, cross over to the East side of the Independence Mine Bowl and enjoy views of the Valley below and plenty of snowy trails.
Don’t forget to bring the bikes, sleds, snowboards, backcountry skis – or whatever you have that you can have fun in the snow with! In addition to Government Peak Recreation Area and Hatcher Pass, there are beautiful trails at the Moose Range just across the street from Hatcher Pass Bed and Breakfast/Cabins!
