Be Prepared! weatherIconNo matter what the season, be aware of local weather forecasts while planning your trip to ensure that you have everything you need for a perfect visit! Remember weather conditions can change very quickly in the mountains of Alaska – bring extra food, water, and warm clothes in any season! When your day in the mountains is over make sure you have your Alaskan cabin at Hatcher Pass Bed and Breakfast reserved for a relaxing and wonderful experience in the Talkeetna Mountains just outside Wasilla and Palmer, Alaska.

The Independence Mine and Visitor Center is closed for the winter season until mid June, 2017. Grooming for cross-country skiing will begin once again at Independence Mine, Archangel Road, and Government Peak Recreation Area when there is enough snow.  There is still good hiking available now.  The gate to Archangel Road and the Reed Lakes Trail is still open for the fall hiking season and will be closed when snow warrants it. The gate over the top of Hatcher Pass to Willow will be closed October 15, 2016. For current information about trails in Alaska, and the Hatcher Pass area visit Cross Country Alaska.
